WOYWW #341

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Another real quick post: a very boring desk—which does not reflect the frenzy of activity that went on over the weekend.  The Christmas stamps stacked to get put away….but not totally committed as I had a new idea, and may play around with it so I’ll have it for next year.  I also still need to finish my Christmas journal pages, and may need a few stamps.  The debit card and GC for some last minute purchases, as this was the only room in the house I could get some cell service for an online order….Note I said was…

For if you notice the iPad---sitting on the little case that carried all my stamps, pens, address labels and card spreadsheets, it is there because I had to test our Wifi signal up in the craft room…That’s right Ladies (and any Gents!)  It took 13 years to get cable on our hill…and it is freakin’ awesome!!!  (also slightly evil, as I haven’t gotten to bed before 1:00 the last 2 nights; maybe Instagram and Pinterest should be evil, and not the internet connection…it’s a moral dilemma I’m too tired to figure out!) And as I’m no longer limited to using work internet, I can now no longer feel guilty for not visiting and commenting on your blogs.

So there is my desk for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to!

Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #339

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Another real quick post: Desk fairly tidy as this was Saturday night, as I packed up all the pieces- parts   of what I hope are my last 20 cards so I could assemble them while visiting my Step-sons Sunday. The front panel you can see in the top left…a real quickie; but this year I’m really just wanting “Done”.  Oddly, I really sorta like the way they turned out.  You’ll have to see next week, as they are all still packed up from Sunday.  The House mouse stamp is because I also stamped a few of those to color while there; one for the journal page I started; the other 3 in case I needed a few more cards.  Again; picture next week…so ink pads still out; need more space for the new Lucky Clover; which, surprisingly, isn’t my favorite green; a little too blue? Maybe? Just a tad lighter than the Pine Needles. (Hoping for a red for December!) The mug, too, is still up there…note to self; bring it down to soak tonight! It contained Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa-as I finally found the K-cups.. Mmmmmmm!

Oh, and here is a birthday card I made for my Sis-in-Law; the last of our crew to turn 50! She got a kick out of the deflated balloon!

So there is my desk for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to! Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #338

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

A real quick post this week; desk still rather organized considering all the craziness going on.  I still have 25 cards to make; hopefully this weekend will get that checked off.  And speaking of crazy; here are those birds; and I can’t believe I just noticed I have an uncolored one…hmmmm; I was getting a bit punchy Sunday night. (Perhaps caused not just by the long crafting day, but also the bottle of home-brewed Hard Lemonade….Monday am was a bit rough! Lol!)  So those will be some of the next ones.

And here are the two sets I finished this past weekend, using Tim’s Blueprint stamps and his Postage Die. Nothing fancy...you can barely see the snowflake brads on the snowman.    I finally broke down and bought his masking film, as the paper masks just weren’t holding up for the 16 cards.

So there is my desk for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to!

And I wish everyone and their families a Very Happy Thanksgiving!

WOYWW #337

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround, so hop over there to join the fun.

So here is my desk; pretty impressive when you consider I’m in the midst of my Christmas Card/gift making frenzy.  These two Blueprint piles are came to work where I’m now coloring in the board room on my lunch hour…have to say; great way to reduce work stress! (and keep the home desk a bit tidier…)

But, the full disclosure side of me…has to show this; the table my besty Julie and I were working on for Saturday’s playdate.  We were playing with our large Dylusian’s Journals…and as our fingers were a mess, I didn’t take any pictures.  I’ll try to remember for next week.

And here are the finished wine journals from 2 weeks ago.

So there is my desk for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to!
Have a great week everyone.

WOYWW #335

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

I’m having a very scattered week…pick any activity at home or work; and things are in half-started status; yup, not even half-done.  Craft desk no exception.  This is how I left it Sunday night; the two worn covers are commissioned wine journals that will be Christmas presents; she ordered them in April; she mails her gifts out week of Thanksgiving…The Distress Paint is drying before I can continue onto the papers.  The White panels are for a second set of the snow flake cards I showed a few weeks ago, only with blue backing instead of red.  I can’t even explain why the snow flake dietrius  (get it...detritus from dies??, aww c’mon…) wasn’t thrown away…takes 2 seconds…or why I didn’t throw it away last night before or after I took the picture…no idea; not like it’s usable…

Oh, and the finished Hand Bell card from last week; current love/hate relationship with sequins; easily mailable, not too over the top; hell to pick up and glue down…

So there is my mess for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to!
Have a great week everyone.

WOYWW #334

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Despite having a week’s vacation, I squeaked in a pitifully few hours in the craft room.  (Lots of drinking in the Finger Lakes Region/wine country of central NY…but that’s another story!) We did find a stamp store there… Inky Hot Mess in Geneva, NY; opened in July; small, has a few different stamp companies, but shows great promise as she grows.  We helped her along as best as we were able with our funds much depleted from grapey goodness!

So what we have is the Hand bell Stamp by Inkadinkado I purchased last year, and never had a chance to use.  I’ve colored it with Perfect Pearls and a water brush; just the holly berries, leaves and bells.., so they are just a bit shimmery and they are hopefully drying nicely. They will get die cut into an oval/rectangular shape, and then layered with the red paper up by the inks.  Honestly haven’t gotten much further with thoughts of the finishing touches…

So there is my mess for the week.  Now go visit Julia’s and see what the rest of the Desker’s are up to!  Have a great week everyone.

WOYWW #322

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

I had minimal time to craft this week; so I did get to start making all the pieces-parts of one of the cards for the year…design courtesy of Impression Obsession...as they are their dies! (Gotta love the samples at the show booths!) The Peace is from Tim Holtz’s set (as is the Joy..but I keep losing the dot..which is a good reason to get small pearls...).  Now I feel it needs a bit of sparkle...so there it sits waiting for inspiration...or some serious stash-delving time.  I know I have red pearls or gems somewhere!!

The dies are all ones I’m planning on using…so no sense putting them away.  And the list…I think it is the list of Distress Spray Stains I needed…if I were to take advantage of the Simon Says Stamp sale (25%!)  which I wasn’t going to (first new car payment due: Yikes!)…but since I went to the trouble…and I had to go to the site to see if they had red gems…or sequins…and since I received an email saying my order was shipped…I’m guessing my good judgement left me for an hour…

So that’s my desk, now go say Hello to Julia and see what this WOYWW phenom is all about!  Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #331

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Another crazy week has flown by!  The good news, is with the computers still down (3 more weeks until we get broadband!! Yippee!)  and football season upon us, I have had lots of crafting time.  (not to say I don’t enjoy football; but a certain Carolina team has been winning since I stopped watching…..just sayin’) (and if that jinxed it…any anyone tells my husband why…you’ll be on my list….just sayin’!)

So the desk; more of those crazy birds…I just love them; and the dies (top left) just came through for their crazy things, so more to play with!  And it is official; I have started the Christmas cards; so I have the snowflake and ornament dies out and ran them through to get an idea of what’s what.  And one of the Tim Holtz Christmas Blueprints sets is out, with the tree and snowman being my choice for this year.

Oh, and one of the girls in our Stamp Club (all 3 of us! LOL!)  shared a template to make a box to hold 5 sets of cards/envies out of one piece of paper, and it took 3 tries, but now I’m pretty happy with the results; so here it is…and I’ll make up a few of these with cards and stamps as gifts for some of my Mom’s friends.

So that’s my desk, now go say Hello to Julia and see what this WOYWW phenom is all about!  Have a great week everyone!

WOYWW #330

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

OK; things are getting out of hand!  This is my favorite time of year, and it is just flying by….somebody make it slow down!

Doesn’t help that last week was particular bizarre; bought a new car; went to pick it up, but there was a problem with the camera/screen unit; so I had a loaner for the week; on a day-by-day basis.  Then on Tuesday my Step-son calls to say he and his fiancé are getting married…Saturday.  Yes...4 days! Very simple and nice; with no drama…so probably the best decision ever.

So here is the desk, with the stencil’s I’ve been working with for building up the card stash, and some of the quirky sayings stamps I got at the show in June that I finally mounted on ez cling.  These came from Lost Coast Designs, with sayings like “You can’t get into the Ballet with a lacrosse stick and a bag of rats” and “Blessed be the cracked, for they shall see the light of day” Above those are my Crazy Birds, colored and all cut out and waiting to get placed on cards. And stacked everywhere are a few of my sayings stamps that I’ve been using on the card stash.

Here is the wedding card I made for Matt and Rachel, as well as one of the Crazy Bird cards…

WOYWW #328

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,   so hop over there to join the fun.

I swear I don’t know where the time is going! We’re almost through my 2nd most favorite month…

So, a quick shot of my desk as I’m running around opening windows before work; I was busy over the weekend, trying to build up a stash of cards for the craft fair.  Unfortunately, 3 sympathy cards I’ve made I’ve needed to send out this week.

So what you see; the pink paper up front is one of the alcohol ink ombre backgrounds I’ve made; there were 10 of those; so much fun!!  Then the pile of a few card/envelope sets waiting to get put neatly in the box.  Some ink pads lying around, and my scrap paper.  Angry bird dies still out; I’m maximizing my time by water-coloring them on my lunch hours—actually very therapeutic!!  My staff thinks I’m nuts! LOL!   A few stamps that have to go back in storage…

Oh, and the glass…I can’t believe I left it behind Sunday…it is an apple-black current wine from Fly Creek Orchard--very yummy;  I know, not a wine glass; but I figured the beer glass was more stable/durable for the work desk.

And 2 quick shots I had taken of the cards I’d been working on….

WOYWW #327

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Another Wednesday almost slipped by me! It is crazy how time is flying by right now!  So a quick picture this morning (lucky I had to go shut the windows or I would not have remembered! So real quick; some cards I’m working on for the craft fair; Thank You Pinterest!!!!  I’ll try to take pictures for next week.  Some watercolor papers are under the blocks hopefully flattening out.  And the crazy Bird Dies, which will be used on the next round of craft fair cards.

I know I said I’d start Christmas; and I did…sorta…I went through my Stamp Stash, selected 8 stamps (shockingly, 5 have never been inked….well, ok, not that shockingly…but if you don’t get them when you see them, they could be gone for good!) and even with Christmas music on I just couldn’t get into the mood…I’m sure the hot humid 93 degrees had something to do with it…

WOYWW #326

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Wow, work is crazy; completely missed that it was Wednesday last week, and I almost did the same today.  Nothing much on the desk; I had a real clean-up over the weekend; then just did a quick project which is scattered about.  So you see: Front and Center: my new Ground Espresso Distress items which arrived Monday.  There is a ribbon bookmark from one of the women in the Stamp Club, who sent it with the folded paper on the right, which are directions on making a box to hold 6 cards and envelopes for gift giving.  It will be a project on a club night.   The card is a sample I made for the Craftsy class: “Wild Cards: 21 techniques with favorite supplies.  This one used stencils…pretty cool…

WOYWW #324

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

First, for those that congratulated me on my epiphany of last week; I’m actually not retiring until 2030..(ugh!) but am boosting my retirement funds by acquiring items now, rather than later..so thank you, but it a bit off yet.  (really just a way to remove the ever so slight guilt over purchasing stash instead of applying the funds into a new car, or whatever)

That being said….there is some new acquisitions for my future happiness; the dies thanks to enabler Shazsilverwolf (Thanks for the tip!), some more stencils, and a few Christmas Stamps (cause you can never have enough??!!)

The rest of the mess is some items I used for the 3 cards (and yes, I fanned them out before taking the picture) which are techniques from a Craftsy online class: “Wild cards: 21 Techniques with your favorite supplies)  As this particular lesson uses Distress Markers, I was pleased that these where uses/treatments I never would have thought of…so Cool!

I still need to acquire a larger container for my additional Distress Spray Stains and Paints; cause they can’t keep hanging out on the desk like that! And I really need a better marker storage; the Distress Colors of 2015 are running havoc with my storage space! (for those in the know: Will there be additional colors in 2016?  I may need a bigger desk! (And see; that would mean a bigger room once we downsize..this all goes into that 15 year retirement planning; can’t move into a one bedroom senior living apartment…unless Hubby sleeps in the garage! LOL!)

And here are those cards;

This one the border is too thin; but will be better next time

WOYWW #323-An Epiphany!

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

So….I had an Epiphany.   And you can all ride my coat tails if it helps….  All too soon (well, not nearly soon enough—but whatever) I will be on a fixed income, but will finally have free time; so my acquisition of crafting supplies is simply adding to my retirement plan as it were.  Insuring a happy quality of life. So I will go forth and shop with my future in mind, and no longer shed a guilty tear.  It is the Dawn of a New Era in the Craft Room!! Hazah!

That being said….I now need to find more space for my new Distress Paints and Stains…since they can’t sit on my desk for the next 17 years….Yes, because those in the back are 8 of the new 10 that are now part of my vested retirement plan.

Also, a layering stencil I used on a get well card, which also incorporated the Crazy Bird dies and Bird, which you can see the cut outs remaining. And you can now shudder; over there, on the left, under the Futon? Those boxes contain all my Christmas stamps…and yes I was looking at them, because the craft fair is 12 weeks away, and I have some serious stamping to do!

Here is the get well card…those birds have so much personality!

CC3C # 34! The Final Challenge

First I want to thank Linda and the Curiosity Crew for a wonderful 64 weeks!  It takes a lot of work and commitment to keep anything going that long, And they kept the creativity and excitement going at 100%.  I also want to thank the sponsors, Funky Junkie Boutique and Inspiration Emporium for their wonderful donations-because who doesn’t want a chance to win a free shopping spree?  And of course (sounding like an Oscar speech!) to Tim and Mario for their generosity of swag as well.

Now, welcome to the final installment of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Vol. 3, hosted by Linda at Studio L3.  This is the Thirty-fourth challenge in where we work through the techniques of Tim Holtz from, you guessed it…his 3rd Volume of the Compendium of Curiosities!!  As in the past challenges, we can’t give details on the challenge, so don’t ask, but do go get your own copy of Tim’s fabulous book.  Also, TheFunky Junkie Boutique has offered an extremely generous $25 Gift Certificate for all the even numbered weeks! So grab a copy, and join in to play!!  All the deets are here, atLinda’s blog!  So, on to: CC3C #34 Layering Stencil: Monoprint  Page 48

Finally, to my attempt.  Maybe it was the pressure of wanting to really rock this last challenge; maybe my muse simply took a vacation; either way, my first attempt was one hot mess! I used the small Dylusion’s Journal.  Maybe this stencil was too detailed? Colors just wrong?   Either way, I just couldn’t use that for my final entry in the Challenge.  So I tried again…using the Distress Paint this time.  Better, but still a mess; the leaves don’t stand out like I thought. So with my extremely limited time running out, I decided one last attempt...on a traditional tag.

This worked!  I used Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves on the tag. And as it worked so well, I knew as soon as the stamp touched the paper that I should have changed ink and embossed it to get it to stand out…a well.  The birdy has been hanging on my desk for a little bit; so I finally got to play with my new dies, and boy does that make it easy (Sorry Yvonne…I’m so not a fussy cutter!)

And just ‘cause…here are the two journal attempts.  Ah well…

WOYWW #332

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

I actually had a play date Saturday, and then a whole 4 hours after that all to myself, so overall, this desk is in pretty good shape for all that!  What is out is just the detritus of the quick cards I made for a new online card class through Craftsy: “Wild Cards: 21 Techniques with favorite Supplies by Catherine Pooler.”  Of course the first lesson uses circles for Bokah effects; hands up! Who would have thought I owned some sort of graduated solid circle stamps?  Wrong…apparently I don’t.  Had to make do with a dot from the TH set and a fuzzy/feathered shadow stamp.  The Dies for the butterfly and poppies are still out; I’m going to give these cards a redux this weekend.  And the Odor Out…well, let’s just say Dakota is very territorial; and didn’t like that we had guests with other doggies in the upstairs bedrooms…

Here are the cards a little better view: Definitely has possibilites.

WOYWW #321

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

OK, don’t faint…this is really my desk.  And it looks this way for 3 reasons: 1) A new stamping buddy from the stamp club I sorta organized is coming over Saturday to go over meeting ideas, 2) I finally replaced my icky craft sheet, and the new one is twice the size and needed room to lay down and 3) I’ve already lost things I just got from the stamp show in June and last week on vacation.  OK, yes, the real reason is #3…yesh! Can’t you let me live my fantasy for just a bit??

There is the new journal I got while on vacation..playing around with one of my cool stencils from Hettie.  And the wee bird, that I was trying out my new markers; and which I need practice!!  And a few stamps I didn’t put away, because I really plan on using them….soon.

So that’s my desk, now go say Hello to Julia and see what this WOYWW phenom is all about!  Have a great week everyone!

Art Journaling running Amok

I had some free time over the weekend, so I finally finished my Steampunk Ladies pages that I started for the Online Class from Craftsy, Colorful Mixed Media Techniques with Marjie Kemper.

I had started with the brick parts a while ago to use up some Molding paste mixed with acrylic paints, then added some color.  The stamps come from Brett Weldele, with the quirky sayings coming from (I believe) Lost Coast Stamps.  I think it needs more; but being in the middle of the journal, I want to keep the pages somewhat flat; as it is I'm not sure how I'll stamp ink over the gears on the other pages.

And then this journal I found on vacation; I love the long, thin layout. The stencil was cut for me by my friend Hettie for a birthday gift. So; a work in progress, I can't wait to see how it grows!

Thanks for stopping by.

Altered Surfaces: Compendium Challenge #33

Welcome to another installment of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Vol. 3, hosted by Linda at Studio L3.  This is the Thirty-third challenge in where we work through the techniques of Tim Holtz from, you guessed it…his 3rd Volume of the Compendium of Curiosities!!  As in the past challenges, we can’t give details on the challenge, so don’t ask, but do go get your own copy of Tim’s fabulous book.  Also, InspirationEmporium has offered an extremely generous $50 Gift Certificate for all the odd numbered Challenges! So grab a copy, and join in to play!!  All the deets are here, at Linda’s blog!

I wasn’t sure what to do for this challenge. I only have this one set of Alpha Parts, so figured I’d start there.  My Hubby had requested a sign/plaque that supported his new “theme song”, as he puts it…”Despite all my Rage” by Smashing Pumpkins.  (Interesting, in this conversation while on our road trip, that I decided to do an art journal based on song lyrics, or impressions made while listening to fave songs..so stay tuned…well not immediately…but eventually…) Luckily I had enough letters to get the main words out.  I used Forest Moss, and then Chipped Sapphire paints, but really didn’t get quite the eroded look that I was hoping for…

I used a canvas panel, and started with spraying with Dylusions Ink Sprays, the Chocolate Brown and Dirty Martini…looked awesome, but then I tried to dry it, then blot it; and all the color came off...so much for gessoed panels!  But it did leave a light color, which in the long run was probably better.  Then the weirdness happened. I used Multi Medium to glue down the tissue paper, and this rust brown appeared. At first I thought it was from the palette knife I used, as had some of that color on it, but the paper stayed clean. It was the medium reacting to the brown ink that was on the panel!! You can see where I had a few smears in the middle…who knew??  I added some washi tape, the bird cage, and the only single House Mouse I had…luckily somewhat appropriate pose.  Unfortunately I had to write the rest of the lyrics…nuff said….And I couldn’t find my tiny Dremel bit, so once found, I’ll drill a hole so I can add a hook/brad to the top of the cage.

WOYWW #320

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Hi gang.  I’m sort of back; but my Sister has been over for a few days, staying in “GasP!” the craft room  (hey, she has no right to complain; she makes the stained glass/cement stepping stones—her guest room has slivers of glass everywhere...just sayin’) , as her friend got the real guest room.  So I haven’t really done much lately, except apparently acquiring more stash.  (My Hubby was very generous on our visit to Absolutely Everything Stamp store in Topsfield MA for my Birthday!!!) I have to confess; this is a bit staged. When I ran up last night to take the picture all my new stencils were in one stack. So I spread them out…just to show…I may have a new hording/addiction problem…but unlike my Paper addiction, at least the stencils really do get used! No…really!!!!  See, the top one on the left is still blue (from a quick card for Hubby’s birthday)  Notice the cool one on the top right?  That is actually one of several really cool ones cut by Hettie for my birthday!! There are 2 butterfly ones in there that are awesome!

And 2 cards I did real quick last weekend: Card for my Hubby that also went towards the Compendium of Curiosities challenge (We went to the New England Aquarium while away…so it fits) and one for my Sister in Law’s birthday...with quirky stamps from Lost Coast designs…at least I’m pretty sure it’s them; they were at the Springfield Stamp Show. Trust me; this is so her!

So that’s my desk, now go say Hello to Julia and see what this WOYWW phenom is all about!  Have a great week everyone!

CC3C #32 Frosted Film, Pg. 59

Welcome to another installment of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Vol. 3, hosted by Linda at Studio L3.  This is the Thirty-second challenge in where we work through the techniques of Tim Holtz from, you guessed it…his 3rd Volume of the Compendium of Curiosities!! All the deets are here, at Linda’s blog!

I thought I only had black clearly art film, but was relieved to find a clear piece tucked away. Made this a whole lot easier!  We spent a day at the New England Aquarium last week, so there is no wonder I chose these dies for a birthday card for my husband.  I only have a few colored Archival Inks, in hindsight perhaps Alcohol inks would have really popped the colors I had in mind, but ah well; these wee beasties are pretty hard to see in a tank, much less the wild, so it sorta fits.

Finished off with a background of Dylusion’s spray inks and stencils, and some die cuts, and a card I hope will revisit the aquarium!

Now go visit the wonderful Curiosity Crew’s work to see how they showcase the Frosted Film! Have a great week everyone.

WOYWW #317

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

Wow, this looks a lot better than when I came up to snap a quick picture last night! Even I was horrified; so I put some stuff away, made some room, and then found these die cuts that are to go into a art journal page.  So, since I now had a clean area, I colored them up with distress paints, Hickory Smoke and Burnished Pewter.  Now, there are still some paints that have no place to go yet, so they are still out and about, and 2 of my new Brett Weldele stamps (I couldn’t find the sheet to put them back)  and all my foam applicators still lying around.   Hopefully next week I’ll get to a real clean up, as I’m on Vacation!!!

That’s all for now, now go say Hello to Julia and see what this WOYWW phenom is all about!  Have a great week everyone!

CC3C #31 Layering Stencil: Paint Resist, Pg. 47

Welcome to another installment of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Vol. 3, hosted by Linda at Studio L3.  This is the Thirty-first challenge in where we work through the techniques of Tim Holtz from, you guessed it…his 3rd Volume of the Compendium of Curiosities!!

OK, this is pretty neat.  And a really great way to get lighter layers from the background to still stand out.

I’m working on Marjie’s Online “Inventive Ink: Mixed media effects" class, and finally got the smaller Dylusions Journal (Boy..that size is freeing!!! The large one makes me overthink!)  I also received my new Hickory Smoke Distress Inks, so had to give them a try.  So after using the technique, I sprayed the pages with the Fossilized Amber and Hickory Smoke stains.  #1: Need more spray stains   #2: that Hickory Smoke is AMAZING!!

I added the Honeycomb Frameworks, the butterflies from the French Flight Framelits, a few more stamps and stencils, and Yay!  For the few inserts on the honeycomb, I marbleized distress stains on some watercolor paper, then stamped some random stamps with Broken China and archival black, then ran it with the die.  I also used Glossy Accents in a few of the holes.

Now go visit the wonderful Curiosity Crew’s work to see how they showcase their Paint resists! Have a great week everyone.

WOYWW #315

Welcome to WOYWW…the “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday”  blog hop created by Julia at the StampingGround,  so hop over there to join the fun.

I got to play some more in the art journal over the weekend, so now am working on things to put on the background pages.  I now see why art journaling for me will be a work of love, until I have tons of time for crafting.  Getting all the pieces/parts together takes time!

So these pieces will be stamped with my new Brett Weldele stamps, and then placed in the journal.  I also got some wacky sayings stamps from Lost Coast Designs that should pair up nicely with these ladies.
The rest is rather neat, as I was using the Dylusion’s Ink Sprays…now there is motivation to clean things up first!!! And of course all those new Distress Paint’s don’t fit in my previous storage tote; time to go shopping! Yay!!

Now go say Hello to Julia and see what this WOYWW phenom is all about!  Have a great week everyone!
